Established in 2018, the undergraduate program of translation aims to train interdisciplinary students proficient in both English and Chinese with strong translation and interpreting competence, cross-cultural communication ability, critical thinking and innovative mind. Students are expected to be competent in offering essential translation, interpreting and other language services in various fields including diplomacy, economy, education, culture, science and technology. Base on the MTI (Master of Interpreting and Translation) program launched in 2015, this program has a team of young and middle-aged teachers with translation education background and rich practical experience. In addition to the compulsory courses stipulated in the national teaching guide, the program has also set up four elective course modules (interpretation and translation module, language and culture module, language skills module and agricultural translation module) for students to choose according to their own needs and interests. At the same time, practice courses are also provided in the small semesters to deepen students’ mastery of knowledge and strengthen the training of translation skills.
